Fire Protection

Fire retardent walls, warnings for early smoke development (under and over the floor), direct lines to local fire stations and automatic gas based fire protection systems ensure world class fire protection.

The fire protection system consists of three independant systems

1. Early warning smoke detection system
2. Smoke alarms
3. Fire extinguishing system

Early Warning Smoke Detection System (VESDA System)

The VESDA system is a very sensitive system for early smoke detection. It works by moving air through porous tubes of plastic and is measured using a laser that is able to detect very low levels of smoke in the air.

Smoke Alarms

In every single customer area in the data center, there has been installed smoke alarms based on ionisation and optical smoke detection both over the ceiling and under the raised floor.

Fire Extinguish System

The fire extinguish system is activated when two or more smoke detectors of different types (VESDA, optical, ionization) signal an alarm. When activated, the fire extinguish system releases inergen gas into the room to extinguish the fire. At the same time an alarm is automatically activated with the local fire authorities. To minimize the spread of fire, all walls are fireproof and F60 certified.

Besides the inergen fire extinguishing system, all rooms have transportable fire extinguishers available.
